Tea Party and 912 Patriots can take a lead roll in taking back the GOP. Here's one persons take...
Hello Everyone,
I am sorry that I missed the GTPI meeting last night but I opted instead to attend the Precinct Training being offered by the DeKalb GOP last night which was very interesting. There were about 17 people there and I think we almost scared them. There were at least 6 or 7 Tea Party and 912 Project people in attendance. We made it clear that we were not devout Republicans and that we seek to reform the Republican Party (that being said, you do have to become a GOP voting member in order to be a Precinct Captain). I don't know if they were acting or not but they seemed to be fine with this concept. The Tea Party Movement does have their respect and they do understand the power behind having our support so when we spoke of revamping their platform and vetting process they did listen. With that being said, we have a lot to learn about how this process works but I have no doubt that if the TP people jump on this band wagon we can make it work to our advantage in a HUGE way.
A representative from the Georgia GOP (state level GOP) also attended the meeting. It appears that the party has been suffering severely from neglect, apathy and complacency (sound familiar?). Just to give you a for instance, the DeKalb GOP has not done any Precinct meetings in 10 years!!! And in my county (Clayton) we have 58 Precincts and only one seat is filled and that is only by a recent appointment. DeKalb only gets more attention from the candidates and the Georgia GOP Party because they do have some large pockets of Republicans. Clayton however, is about 79% Democrat and 29% Republican so in essence they have given up on that County and do not spend any time or money on it. Just like a business, if you don't do well in a certain location you pull out.
Just FYI, if your precinct captain seats are not filled, you only have to get with your GOP chairperson (become a member) and they can simply appoint you to that position in off election years and from there you just go out and get busy in your precinct!! It is THAT simple!! If you are interested I can send you the packet that they passed out last night and it gives you some guidelines. It is not perfect but it is a start and I look for all counties to start tweaking and ramping this up now that the word will surely get out that We The People are ready to go to work.
Three of us that were in attendance last night will be incorporating this program within our county's GOP Committee ASAP. This tool is ripe for the picking so for those who continue to ask, "What can I do to help?", this is your answer. We want to make sure that the Republican Party returns to its original platform (perhaps even improve upon it) and that Conservatives are on the ballots. No more RINO's!!
Thanks, Geralyn
